Donald M. McHugh is a senior partner of the law firm McHugh & Macri in East Hanover, New Jersey, formed in 1978. He is certified as an elder law attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation; past president of the New Jersey chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA); 2006 chair of the Elder/Disability Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association; chair of the New Jersey Medicaid regulation committee; listed as a Top NJ Attorney in elder law; recipient of the N.J. Bar Association's first Distinguished Service award in elder/disability law; recipient of an AV rating in ethics and expertise; and a member of NAELA's Council of Advanced Practitioners (CAP).

He is a frequent author and lecturer on elder/disability law to civic groups and professional legal societies, including the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education of the New Jersey Bar Association. His practice addresses all aspects of elder and disability law, tax, estate and asset preservation planning to provide for the supplemental needs of disabled and elder clients. He also specializes in probate and Medicaid litigation issues and retirement planning.

Don has handled Medicaid denial litigation from fair hearing through the federal 3 rd Circuit Court of Appeals, including the landmark New Jersey ruling In re: Labis, which authorized guardians to conduct Medicaid planning.

Vincent N. Macri is a founding and senior partner of the law firm McHugh & Macri. Mr. Macri is a certified elder law attorney (CELA) as promulgated by the National Elder Law Foundation (NELF). Mr. Macri is also a member of the Council of Advanced Practitioners (CAP), one of approximately 75 members nationwide, as chosen by the NELF. He was chosen to 2010-2017 Super Lawyers as published in New Jersey Monthly Magazine and named a New Jersey 2017 Top 100 attorney by Super Lawyers. In addition, Mr. Macri was named to 2017's New York Area's Top Rated Lawyers as published in New York Magazine and 2013 Top Rated Lawyers in Health Care as published in The American Lawyers and Corporate Counsel Magazine. Mr. Macri has also been awarded a rating of AV Preeminent, the highest possible rating, by the peer review rating process of Martindale-Hubbell. He is an active member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NELA) and the Elder Law Section of the New Jersey Bar Association and a member of the Morris Country Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. In addition, he is accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs and has been an advocate for disabled veterans through the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Mr. Macri received his bachelor's degree from Seton Hall University in 1970 and his law degree from Seton Hall University Law School in 1973. He is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, the federal courts and the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Since 1996, the focus of his practice has been Medicaid planning/special-needs trusts, asset preservation and related estate matters. As a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, he additionally handles guardianships, conservatorships and disability litigation, as well as end-of-life and contested probate issues.

Mr. Macri has lectured extensively for professional associations, including the Morris County Bar Association, the Financial Planning Association of New Jersey, the Alzheimer's Association, the New Jersey Registered Nurses Association, accountants groups, veterans groups and caregiver support groups, including the Morris County Caregiver Coalition. He has also appeared as an elder law expert on numerous radio programs, including WOR Radio in New York City and WMTR in Morristown, New Jersey, as well as written for publications on elder law, disability law and planning. In addition, he's a regular lecturer for the National Business Institute (NBI) on elder law issues.

Past clients include PHP Healthcare, Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Jersey, Showboat Casino-Hotel and The Bank of New York.

As a CELA, Mr. Macri also handles Medicaid-related divorce litigation, nursing home litigation and elder personal injury litigation based upon his 44 years of trial experience. Litigation of all elder-related issues is also one of his specialties.

Richard J. Lutz Jr. is an associate attorney with 30 years' experience and heads the real estate and estate administration departments of the firm.

Adrienne J. Burke is an associate attorney with 25 years' experience and a former Essex County assistant prosecutor. Adrienne practices in the areas of civil and probate litigation, Medicaid applications and fair hearing appeals, and guardianships.
